With a legal background and expertise in digital rights, Dima has led high-impact research projects for organizations such as USAID’s Digital Frontiers, Internews, Access Now, and the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre. She has conducted in-depth investigations on online censorship, surveillance technologies, content moderation, digital authoritarianism, and gendered digital violence. Her work includes evaluating platform accountability, scrutinizing government policies on digital freedoms, and advocating for privacy rights in restrictive environments.

Dima’s research is informed by a rigorous methodology that combines desk research, stakeholder interviews, and field investigations. She has engaged with civil society organizations, international donors, governments, private sector representatives, and technology companies to assess digital ecosystems and formulate strategic recommendations to enhance internet governance and human rights protections. Her ability to synthesize complex digital policy issues into actionable policy recommendations has positioned her as a trusted advisor in the field.

Beyond her research, Dima is an active contributor to global policy forums and advocacy initiatives, frequently speaking at international conferences such as RightsCon, Bread & Net, and the Global Digital Development Forum (GDDF). Her expertise in privacy law, surveillance studies, and the ethical implications of AI and predictive policing has been instrumental in shaping conversations around digital rights and responsible tech governance.

Fluent in Arabic, English, and French, Dima’s work is regionally grounded yet globally relevant, making her a leading voice in the fight for a free, open, and rights-respecting digital space.
